Aspekt ENT announced on the 26th that it will host a new year-end event in Jeonju’s old downtown area, titled “The Weekend Year-End Party,” in collaboration with Jeonju City and Krypton.
The event will take place over two days, from Saturday, December 27 to Sunday, December 28, across the old downtown area of Jeonju. It is composed of two main programs: a dance battle and a DJ party. Co-hosted by Jeonju City and Krypton, the event is designed to attract visitors to the old downtown area during the year-end season and to promote stay-type cultural content.
The first program, the dance battle, will be held in a 1-on-1 open style format, allowing dancers of all genres to participate freely without genre restrictions. Hip-hop, breaking, popping, locking, and other street dance styles will compete on a single stage, offering a dynamic and diverse experience for both participants and audiences.
In particular, the judging panel features House Holy (Sungseureon), a long-standing figure in Korea’s street dance scene, and Daniel, an iconic figure in African dance. Their participation adds professionalism and credibility to the competition. Drawing on their extensive experience and refined perspectives, the judges will evaluate each dancer’s performance while enhancing audience engagement through insightful and vivid commentary.
The second main program, the DJ party, will be led by DJ Imes alongside DJ crew TEUM. Actively performing both domestically and internationally, they are expected to captivate audiences with genre-spanning music selections and sets tailored to the on-site atmosphere. Notably, DJ Imes is a two-time consecutive Korean champion of Red Bull 3Style, a credential that is expected to elevate the party’s energy and overall experience.
The DJ party is planned not only for local visitors but also for international tourists visiting Jeonju’s old downtown area. By bringing together local residents, domestic visitors, and people of various nationalities through music, the event aims to offer a distinctive year-end cultural experience unique to Jeonju.
An official from Aspekt ENT stated, “Through this event, we aim to organically connect street culture–based content with the physical space of Jeonju’s old downtown area, contributing to the activation of local cultural activities and the nighttime economy during the year-end season.”
The official added, “We hope this party will help Jeonju’s old downtown area evolve beyond a simple tourist destination into a ‘stay-type cultural content space’ where people can truly enjoy and experience culture. Through our collaboration with Jeonju City and Krypton, we will continue to present cultural content suited to local characteristics, inject new vitality into the old downtown area, and contribute to regional development through a wide range of local culture programs going forward.”
