Their “language of the body” not only amazes viewers but also ignites a deep sense of pride in the skills and stature of Korean dancers (K-dancers). The rising popularity of dance and dancers over recent years is reshaping the entire dance ecosystem. Dancers have become aspirational figures, and the number of people eager to learn dance has noticeably increased. Eddie Jang, CEO of Aspekt ENT, is one of the industry insiders working at the heart of the “K-Dance” wave. He runs a management agency for dancers and is preparing for global dance competitions scheduled for July and September. “As K-pop continues to thrive globally, the spotlight is also turning to K-dance,” Jang explains. “My dream is to establish a solid bridge that allows dancers based in Korea to expand their careers internationally.” Founded in January last year, Aspekt ENT is one of the few dance label companies in South Korea, engaging in a wide range of dance-related businesses. These include importing dance licenses to produce video content, organizing battle competitions, and supporting artist concerts. The company manages over 100 domestic and international dancers, including Tsubakill, a dance crew featured in “Street Woman Fighter.” Its roster includes dancers of Japanese, Taiwanese, and Russian nationalities, reflecting its growing global reach.

댄서들이 보여주는 '몸의 언어'는 감탄을 자아내는 동시에 K댄서들의 실력과 위상에 자부심이 샘솟는다. 수 년 전부터 불기 시작한 댄스와 댄서들의 인기는 '춤'의 생태계도 바꾸고 있다. 댄서들은 선망의 대상이 됐고, 춤을 배우고자 하는 이들도 부쩍 늘었다.
장용혁 아스펙트이엔티 대표는 'K댄스' 열풍 속에서 일하고 있는 '춤친자'다. 댄서들이 소속된 매니지먼트사를 운영 중이며, 7월과 9월 열리는 글로벌 댄스 대회도 준비하고 있다. 장 대표는 "K팝이 전세계적인 인기를 끌면서 K댄스도 주목받고 있다"며 "한국에 있는 댄서들이 해외 무대까지 폭넓게 활동할 수 있는 교두보를 마련 하는 것이 목표이자 꿈"이라고 말했다.
지난해 1월 설립한 아스펙트이엔티는 국내 몇 안되는 댄스 레이블 회사로, 댄스와 관련된 비지니스를 다방면으로 진행하고 있다. 댄스 관련 라이센스를 수입해 영상 콘텐츠를 제작하고, 배틀 대회 진행과 아티스트 콘서트 지원 등을 하고 있다. '스트릿 우먼 파이터'에 출연한 댄스크루 츠바킬 등 국내외 댄서 100여명의 매니지먼트도 하고 있다. 일본과 대만, 러시아 국적을 가진 글로벌 댄서들도 포함됐다. |
